Panel warns of perils of convergence
EVEN as the Fali S. Nariman sub-group on convergence is adding the finishing touches to its final draft of the Communications, Carriage and Content Bill (2000), the Global Internet Project (GIP) comprising representatives of global Internet leaders in th e telecommunications, software, financial services and content sectors warned that convergence between different telecommunications and broadcasting infrastructures and services will raise challenges for regulatory frameworks.

Nasscom urges laws for data protection
THE National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) has said that Indian software companies seeking to make a major foray into the European market need to proceed cautiously, since the European Parliament has recently passed laws stipula ting that no company in the European Union would be allowed to get their data processed in any country that does not have adequate data protection laws.

CBSInc plans e-centre in Bangalore
COMPLETE Business Solutions Inc (CBSInc) of the US is planning to set up seven new e-development centres worldwide, out of which one would be based in Bangalore, Mr. Raj Vattikutti, Chairman of CBSI and co-chairman of CBSInc, US, said.

News Corp picks up 15% stake in ITSpace.com
NEWS Corporation has taken a 15 per cent stake in ITSpace.com, a Microland company, according to a company release. This is the second investment by News Corp in a Microland company, the first being Indya.com, the group's horizontal portal.
