Norms for grant of permit for air charter operations

NEW DELHI, June 28
THE Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued instructions for the minimum requirement for grant of permit to operate non-scheduled air transport services (charter operations).
In a statement, the DGCA said that the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) is applicable to non-scheduled air transport services (charter operations) which are undertaken by twin-engined planes having maximum seating capacity not exceeding nine seats exclud
ing crew seats, single turbine-engined planes having maximum seating capacity not exceeding nine crew seats or single-piston engine aircraft having maximum seating capacity not exceeding four seats excluding crew seats.
The statement said that no person shall carry out non-scheduled air transport services (charter operations) using single-piston engine aircraft having maximum seating capacity of more than four seats and single-turbine aircraft having maximum seating cap
acity of more than nine seats excluding the crew seats.
Before the non-scheduled operator's permit is issued, an applicant shall be in possession of an aircraft either by outright purchase or through the lease route. The aircraft shall be registered in India and shall hold a Certificate of Airworthiness in th
e normal passenger category.
While aircraft acquired and certified in the private category shall not be used for commercial air transport services, for leased aircraft, a copy of the lease deed shall be filed with the DGCA, the statement added.
