THERE is hardly anything to cheer a visitor to the cluster of villages on the outskirts of Srinagar, off the Srinagar-Urri national highway.

They wait in vain
Women and children are the worst affected in the ongoing conflict in Kashmir. While the wives of those listed as missing are growing in number, the children too suffer in a society which does not encourage women to work outside the home.
