Maran woos Italian investors
THE Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Murasoli Maran, has urged Italian enterprises to reassess their priorities and look at the many advantages of doing business with India in the wake of the ``forward steps'' being taken by the country for creat ing a conducive environment for Italian investments.

Indian industry less optimistic, says D&B survey
THE Indian industry is less optimistic now than in the past, about future sales, net profits and new orders, says Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). The D&B Q4 2000 Business Optimism Indices on these counts have registered a decline on oil fears.

India, Italy to set up IT group
INDIA and Italy on Tuesday decided to set up a Joint Working Group on Information Technology (IT). The two countries also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding for intensified cooperation in the small and medium enterprises sectors.

INFLATION WATCH
THE annual rate of inflation measured in terms of the wholesale price index (WPI) on a point-to-point basis moved up sharply to 7.56 per cent for the latest recorded week ended September 30 from 6.06 per cent in the preceding week.
