CEPZ: Directive to police authorities

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed the police authorities to render adequate protection for the smooth functioning of various industrial units in the Cochin Export Processing Zone.

The court passed the interim direction on a petition filed by the Executive Secretary of CEPZ seeking to direct the police to provide protection for the free entry and exit to and from the Zone for persons, vehicles and transportation of goods without an y obstructions from the trade unions.

It may be recalled that the functioning of about 60 units in the zone were affected recently following a blockade by some trade unions demanding job protection to employees working in these units, according to a press release issued here. -- Our Bureau
