Markets

Fast track
Book profit in old economy scrips
WHILE small investors and punters would like the market to see an upside break-out, it remains to be seen whether the recent recovery would be sustained at higher levels. The Sensex has rebounded about 22 per cent from a bottom of 3,491 points.

Impact
Kopran: Near term interest
THE Kopran stock may continue to remain in the limelight in the short-term in the wake of a possible merger with a group company.

MCS: Towards new ownership
THE announcement of an open offer for MCS may lead to market interest in the stock though the upside potential may be limited.

Stocks
Cement stocks build gains on Highways project
THE bulls continued to take a dominant stance at the bourses on Wednesday. The markets closed on positive sentiment, with stocks in the technology, cement and pharmaceutical sectors attracting interest.

Lyons Range
THE HFCL counter led a brief rally at the Calcutta Stock Exchange on Wednesday. The scrip closed at Rs 1,578.40 with an inter-day gain of 3.69 per cent and recorded a turnover of Rs 387.82 crore. The other notable gainers were the stocks of Bata and ACC. Top among the losers were the equities of SPIC, Bajaj Auto and LML.

Technical Analysis
Bulls dominate
BULLS dominated Wednesday's trading almost throughout the day, helping the uptrend in both the indices continue for the 16th calendar day. The sentiment of the tradable scrips was also completely bullish.
