Chilled milk for the soul

A Nestle collection centre in Buttar village in the `milk district' of Punjab, Moga.

The company collects 11,000 litres a day from this village alone. With four chilling machines that preserve milk in a bacteria-free environment, the collection centres are part of Nestle's efforts to improve productivity and hygiene of the milk collected from farms. The company's oldest plant at Moga, started in 1961, procures milk from about 77,000 farmers in 1,599 villages.
