`Continue loan interest subsidy scheme'
THE decision of the Shipping Ministry to discontinue with the loan interest subsidy scheme (LISS) for acquiring inland water barges has generated waves of discontent among a section of the barge operators in Kerala.

To facilitate corporatisation -- Port trusts Act to be amended
THE Union Cabinet is set to take up a proposal to amend the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963, which will grant legal sanction to the Government to corporatise the major ports that are covered under the Act.

Dahej chemical port opening tomorrow
THE country's first liquid chemical port at Dahej in Gujarat will be inaugurated on January 25 by the Union Minister of Shipping, Mr Arun Jaitley.

Gujarat Adani Port sets sights high
GUJARAT Adani Port Ltd (GAPL) at Mundra has set itself the target of 119 million tonnes of cargo handling with a berthing length of 4,000 metres by 2027. GAPL, during the last one year, handled 12 Panamax vessels of 70,000 dwt each with the port handling two Panamax vessels simultaneously for unloading coal.
