India-EU to deepen trade ties
THE eleventh session of the India-EU (European Union) Joint Commission (JC) meeting, which concluded here on Tuesday, has resolved to deepen and strengthen bilateral trade, development and economic cooperation.

CII, UNDP sign MoU on India partnership forum
THE India Partnership Forum, a joint initiative between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), was launched today to facilitate country-level dialogue on private sector partnership, including polic y and action on the role and responsibility of industry in social and human development.

Donations for relief continues to flow
ITI Ltd has contributed Rs 1 crore for the quake relief work in Gujarat. The cheque for the amount, which also consists of contributions from the employees, was made out for the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund and was handed over to the Communicati ons Minister, Mr Ram Vilas Paswan, by the ITI Chairman and Managing Director, Ms Lakshmi Menon.

Advisory council proposals will benefit poor: Montek
THE Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (EAC) report on economic reforms has suggested a spate of measures which would improve the economic performance in a manner whereby the benefits of additional growth will be adequately shared with rural area s and the poor, one of the members of the Council, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said.

MNCs urged to adopt safe eco norms
WITH the Internet revolution connecting the world, multinational corporations with a poor environmental and social track record do not have any place to hide, according to Mr Bjorn Stigson, President of the World Business Council for Sustainable Developm ent (WBCSD).

THE Railway Ministry has constituted a three-member advisory committee under the chairmanship of Dr Sam Pitroda to initiate a comprehensive process for the modernisation of the railway system and to launch a new initiative for resource mobilisation.
