Quake surcharge
Previously the Government had imposed an additional surcharge, at the rate of 1 per cent, for building up a National Calamity Fund. The said Fund should be able to take care of calamities like Gujarat. But the Government has imposed an additional 2 per c ent surcharge for earthquake relief in Gujarat.
