THE speakers kept interest alive at several sessions by coming up with shocking references to their peers. The most surprising came from one senior officer at India's largest software services company who duly acknowledged everyone on the dias and then m ade a passing reference about a dignitary, ``because he is here.'' The so-called Father of the software industry would have thought that he deserved better than this.

Nasscom to set up incubation cell
THE National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has announced the setting up of an incubation networking cell.

WILSYS Technologies, a Hyderabad-based software research company focussing on wireless application protocol (WAP) and infra red-related solutions, has secured a $1-million funding from a US-based angel investor, Infostar Inc.

NETHERLANDS-BASED Rainbow Technologies BV is buying out Viman Software India Pvt Ltd in an all-cash deal. The Dutch company has already acquired 34 per cent stake in the Delhi-based firm.

Now, a mobile classroom
SCHOOLNET India Ltd, an initiative of the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS), in the social infrastructure sector, has rolled out the country's first mobile classroom. The objective of the project is to spread the message of techno logy-aided-learning to schools in rural areas.
