Politics
Political games
With elections to the State Assembly round the corner, Tamil Nadu has started witnessing political tremors. By joining hands with the AIADMK, a bete noire till the other day, PMK has set the ball rolling. The situation will change further when the Congre ss(I) and the TMC make known their respective positions.

Technology
Bio-tech benefits
Several investigative studies by the American Medical Association (AMA) have shown that there are no long-term health effects from gene-modified crops. Now, there is conclusive evidence that bio-pesticide from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis, a micr obe, provides resistance to insect attack when its gene is introduced in crop plants through the transgenic technique. This, in turn, saves the farmers the cost of investing in expensive chemical protectants.
