All major ports told to retire VRS by March 31
THE Union Ministry of Shipping has directed all major port trusts and dock labour boards to close with effect from March 31, 2001, the Voluntary Retirement Scheme in force since 1991.

THE Tezpur-based Eastern Base Workshop (EBW) of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has developed an indigenous mobile road maintenance machine for repair and maintenance of potholes and patches on the roads.

SE Rly April-Jan passenger traffic up 15%
SOUTH Eastern Railway, during the first ten months of the current financial year (April-January), carried 197.30 million originating passengers, which was 25.27 million more than that for the same period of last fiscal, and registering a growth of 15 per cent.
