THE Calcutta Stock Exchange on Wednesday witnessed a mixed price trend at close. Among the gainers were the scrips of Tata Engineering (6.08 per cent), Zee Telefilms (5.96 per cent), Tata Steel (5.79 per cent) and Bata India (4.94 per cent). The counters of Reliance Industries, Global Telesystems, DSQ Software and ACC were among the losers.

Buying spree in pharma scrips
FOR the second day in succession, the stock markets remained rangebound. Neither the bulls nor bears managed to gain control over the market on Wednesday. However, the day ended on a positive note and there was some sustained buying in pharmaceutical sto cks.

Technical Analysis
Uptrend continues
THE day's movement of the index was within a bandwidth of about 17 points. Finally, it closed with a marginal gain of about four points from the previous last traded value. The uptrend triggered in the index on Tuesday continued on Wednesday. The sentime nt continued to be bullish with a decrease in its value.
