Import of specified commodities -- Tuticorin port SOS to DGFT
THE May 2 notification of the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notifying 300 items to be imported only through certain specified ports has come as a big blow to the Tuticorin port.

Transport
To finalise movement of thermal coal -- Paradip in talks with SE Rly
PARADIP Port Trust (PPT) and South-Eastern Railway (SER) are currently engaged in negotiations to finalise an agreement on rail movement of thermal coal. The talks also have within their purview availability of new types of wagons and other related matte rs to facilitate operation of PPT's mechanised coal loading berth due to be commissioned soon.
