Markets

Fast track
July 2 weighs on sentiment
THE markets have been in the negative territory for the past few days. The switch-over from badla or carry forward system to compulsory rolling settlement system appears to have dampened the trading sentiment.

Impact
FDC: May perk up
FDC's share price may register a short-term uptrend on the heels of the company's move to reduce the face value of an equity share to Re 1 and then buy back up to 10 per cent of the equity.

Tata Chemicals: Upside capped
TATA Chemicals' efforts at restructuring its operations to emerge as a major player in three core areas of business may not provide any near-term boost to the stock price.

Stocks
ITC, HLL lead Sensex fall
HEAVY selling pressure kept the capital market subdued for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, with the institutional investors on a stock offloading spree.

Bearish phase continues but tech stocks recover
THE markets seems to be going through a bearish phase as reflected by the broad market indices. The index plunged for the fifth straight day on Tuesday and closed 1.10 per cent lower at 3460.04 points than the previous day's close of 3498.38 points.

Technical Analysis
Downtrend prevails
THE movement of the index was within a range of about 24 points on Tuesday, with the bears dominating in the initial session. Later on, the bulls managed to minimise the loss and the index closed about 11 points below the previous last trad ed value. The prevailing downtrend in the index continued for the sixth calendar day with the strong bearish sentiment extending support.
