Cigarettes
Public smoking
The need for the recent Supreme Court ban on smoking in public places is debatable. Though the ruling comes as a welcome relief to the non-smoking public, it offers smokers a raw deal.

Politics
SAARC's role
The SAARC's role with regard to peace in Asia is relevant. Indo-Pak bitterness is often termed `bilateral issues' and is thus not raised at SAARC meetings. But the SAARC can assume a greater role by becoming a trade body and ensuring greater economic dep endence among nations.
