Dull trading in rubber market

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, Jan. 1

SHEET rubber market slipped a tad as most of the buyers were enjoying New Year holiday, while block rubber ISNR 20 and latex 60 per cent remained flat.

Trading activities were generally in low key.

RSS 4 slipped to Rs 25.50, RSS 5 to Rs 24.00 and ungraded rubber to Rs 23.50 per kg in place of Rs 25,75, Rs 24.25 and Rs 23.75 respectively on Monday.

Block rubber ISNR 20 at Rs 24.00 unchanged from Monday.

Latex 60 per cent too remained flat at Rs 26.00 per kg .

Meanwhile, as part of the efforts to enhance rubber consumption, sincere attempts are made to create more awareness for road rubberisation.

With this end in view a national seminar on road rubberisation will be organised at Kochi on January 4.

The seminar is jointly sponsored by the Institute of Engineers and the Rubber Board.

Though road rubberisation is more costlier than tarring, maintenance cost is 35 per cent less, said the sponsors.

The lower price and enough availability of the natural rubber in Kerala ensure the possibility of more rubberised roads, they added.
