Sapient to set up centre in Bangalore

BANGALORE, Jan. 1

SAPIENT India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the over $500 million US-based business and technology consultancy house — Sapient Corporation, is strengthening its operations in the country.

The company is setting up its second facility in Bangalore and plans to invest close to Rs 12 crore. Sapient India is planning a development team of 100-200 engineers at the Bangalore centre, which is expected to be operational in the next three to four months.

Mr B.V. Naidu, Director, STPI-Bangalore, said that his organisation had recently approved Sapient India's proposal to start its Bangalore facility.

Sapient India already has an R&D centre in Noida with a development team of close to some 300 engineers.

The company, which started its India operations in March 2000, has already invested close to $10 million in setting up the Noida facility.
