Usha Sahajpal is new CGA

NEW DELHI: Ms Usha Sahajpal took charge as Controller-General of Accounts in the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday. The CGA is also the Principal Accounts Adviser to the Government of India and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a technically sound management accounting system.

A 1966 batch officer of the Indian Civil Accounts service, Ms Sahajpal has held a number of important posts in the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Office of the Controller-General of Accounts, Ministries of Industry, Finance, Planning and Communications. She also held the post of Finance Advisor in the Ministry of Agriculture and Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts officer in the Employees Provident Fund organisation.
