MUMBAI, Jan. 1

REDEMPTION of units of US-64 scheme was a modest Rs 12 crore on Tuesday, on the first day of sales and repurchase, after they were suspended in July last. There was also fresh sales of units worth about Rs 2.5 crore today, the first day of sales, after the Net Asset Value (NAV) of the Scheme was announced, top UTI officials said.

UTI started repurchase of US-64 units under the assured repurchase scheme. Under the scheme UTI will purchase up to 5000 units. It was significant that UTI could make Rs 2.5 crore worth fresh sales at the current NAV, said an analyst. ``As UTI plans to restructure the scheme, it may be attractive to buy at the current NAV said'' said the analyst.
