Pentasoft posts lower net in Q3

CHENNAI, Jan. 28

THE city-based Pentasoft Technologies has reported a net profit of Rs 4.69 crore for the third quarter end December 31, 2001, about one-seventh of Rs 32.99 crore the company achieved during the same period of the previous year.

Total sales for the quarter were Rs 90 crore (Rs 149.31 crore).

For the nine months ended December 31, the company reported a net profit of Rs 37.91 crore (Rs 96.86 crore) on a turnover of Rs 286.68 crore (Rs 428.78 crore). For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2001, the company had reported a net profit of Rs 126.65 crore on a turnover of Rs 583.49 crore. Mr D. Kannan, CEO, Pentasoft, said in a release, "In comparison with the past six months, the IT scenario has started to show silver streaks. Amidst this recovery, Pentasoft's concentration will be emphasised on value-added projects with specific concentration on offshore."
