AP booster plan for IT sector

HYDERABAD, Jan. 28

BRINGING in an IT Enabled Services Act, a Data Protection Act and a Consumer Privacy Act, along with establishing a Virtual Institute for ITES are among a series of new initiatives under the policy framework announced by the Andhra Pradesh Government.

To further boost the IT sector, particularly during the current downturn, the Government on Monday announced three policies - one for ITES, a land allotment policy for IT companies and an integrated policy framework for attracting companies to establish Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

A Virtual Training Institute for ITES is to be established by the AP State Council of Higher Education. The State Government has proposed to develop satellite centres to support ITES.

Policy for SEZs: In yet another important initiative, the Government has announced a framework for SEZs where the highlight would be single-window clearance and certain duty exemptions on stamps and transfer of land.
