Direct selling grows 53.5 pc

NEW DELHI, Jan. 29

THE Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) has released data on the industry's growth. In the year 2000-01, it grew by 53.5 per cent and the turnover for the year was recorded at Rs 1,374 crore, up from the previous year's Rs 895 crore.

The total number of sales people in the direct selling industry grew to touch 8,06,000, registering a growth of 17 per cent.

The product categories within the direct selling model expanded to software products, online and offline software education, new varieties of food supplements, banking services, beverages and daily use products.
