Rashi Peripherals to distribute Sony devices

MUMBAI, Jan. 29

SONY Electronic (Singapore) has appointed the Mumbai-based Rashi Peripherals for distributing high-performance optical storage devices.

These include CD writers, CD/DVD ROM and floppy disc drives for personal computers.

At a press conference, Mr Shigeru Iwata, Assistant General Manager, Sony Electronic (Singapore), said, "We are projecting a turnover of $20 million in the Indian market this year.

Our tie up with Rashi Periherals is to further strengthen our relations with leading regional distributors and system integrators''.

By introducing products in the storage segment of PCs, Sony would be competing with the likes of Samsung and Hewlett Packard in the Indian market.

Adds Mr Iwata, "The high speed capabilities of these innovative devises make them ideal for corporate, professional, small office and home users.

Those who need to store and manage digital images, video text and transfer data quickly and easily''.

With its 21 branch offices, Rashi Peripherals has 2,000 key partners who reach out to nearly 3,500 resellers across the country.

In India, Rashi Peripherals is expected to help Sony expand its market for storage devise products and also provide servicing facilities for the same.

The Rs 119-crore Rashi Peripherals already distributes global brands from companies such as Logitech, ASUS, Prolink, Acer, Jetway and CNET.

It also has its own PC brand RP tech manufactured at the ISO 9002 certified facility at Daman.
