ISPs Corporate - Alliances & Joint Ventures HCL InfiNet pact with Atesto Vipin Kumar
NEW DELHI, Jan. 29 HCL InfiNet, the Internet service providing (ISP) arm of HCL Infosystems Ltd, has tied up with US-based Atesto Technologies Inc to offer online testing services for Web infrastructure. This alliance will help HCL InfiNet to enlarge the range of value-added services it provides as the company is positioning itself as more than just an ISP, Mr Saurav Adhikari, President of HCL InfiNet, told Business Line here. According to Mr Dave Mukherjee, President and CEO of Atesto Technologies, the company is targeting business worth about $1.5 million from India in the first year through the tie-up with HCL InfiNet. Atesto Technologies offers online testing services that will help clients test out their Web portals and other Web products by just logging on to `atesto.com'. "You can test any Web application from our site. You can find out how scalable, secure and fast your portal is from us by just logging on,'' says Mr Mukherjee. He said when Web environments were tested within a network, many factors such as how an end-user saw the site and how scalable it was to take unexpected loads might not be measured accurately. Atesto's services are aimed at eliminating this risk by simulating real time experiences on the Web, Mr Mukherjee said. "We have had over 50 clients so far, including companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, AskJeeves and Monster.com. We are adding seven customers a week,'' he claimed. Mr Mukherjee also said that Atesto was considering setting up a software development facility in India in the near future. Atesto, which will complete two years in March 2002, has so far received venture capital funding to the tune of $20 million. It has 70 employees and targets revenue of $100 million in three years. According to Mr Adhikari, HCL InfiNet will offer Atesto's services to its 150-odd corporate clients. "We are no longer just an ISP. We are clearly focussed on the value-added services space and hence this tie-up with Atesto," he said.
