HCV/LCV/Tractors Eicher Motors net up at Rs 5.87 cr Our Bureau NEW DELHI: Small truck manufacturer, Eicher Motors Ltd, on Tuesday said improved vehicle sales helped its net profit improve a tad to Rs 5.87 crore in October-December quarter compared with Rs 5.55 crore a year earlier. The company, in a statement, said the profit would have been higher but for a provision for the deferred income-tax liability estimated at Rs 2.56 crore in the quarter. Eicher Motors said its net profit for April-December 2001-02 was Rs 13.14 crore, up from Rs 12.31 crore in the same nine months of last year. Provisioning for the deferred income-tax liability in the nine months was Rs 5.71 crore. Gross sales in the three months was Rs 130.61 crore, up from Rs 107.76 crore while gross sales in the nine months was Rs 350.33 crore, up from Rs 299.17 crore. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors, in a notice to the Bombay Stock Exchange said that Mr Rakesh Kalra had stepped aside as Managing Director and Director from the board of directors of the company. Mr Kalra will, however, continue to be the chief executive officer of the company, the notice said.
