Artfed bags fresh orders at Frankfurt fair

GUWAHATI: Artfed (The Federation of Assam Apex Weavers and Handloom Societies) has bagged new orders for Muga variety of handloom textiles from Lazaro Franco of Greece and Casa Plus of Venezuela at the Heimtextil, 2002, the global textile fair that held recently in Frankfurt.

It already has export orders to the UK, the US, France, Taiwan and Israel.

In the Heimtextil fair, Artfed earned a total business of Rs 1.84 crore apart from exploring new export potential of Muga, Eri and mulberry silk product to other countries, according to a release.

Among the Artfed products that were on display at the fair were household textiles curtains, furnishings, cushion covers, bed linen, table mats, it added.
