Rubber Government - States Kerala rubber support scheme Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM, Feb. 1 THE Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr A.K. Antony, has a Rs 201 crore scheme to help the farming community and the village industries. Of this Rs 40 crore has been earmarked for assisting procurement of rubber for export with subsidy or Rs 3.50 per kg. The procurement should be at the MSP (minimum statutory price) of Rs 32.09 per kg. Progress of rubber export would be monitored at the State level by a Committee consisting of the Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Commissioner and the Principal Secretary for Co-operation. There would also be a district level committee presided over by the District Collector to evaluate the export efforts in each district. Meanwhile, the rubber market remained flat for all the grades as buyers were sitting on the sidelines, without committing any purchases. However, traders bought some quantum to fulfil earlier commitments. Block rubber ISNR 20 processed to the specifications of the tyre companies attracted price up to Rs 30 per kg. There was reasonably good supply for dry rubber grades, but low supply of latex continued. Sheet rubber RSS 4 remained static at Rs 30per kg as also RSS 5 at Rs 29. Block rubber ISNR 20 and latex 60% were at Rs 28 and ungraded rubber at Rs 27.25 per kg.
