BANGALORE: Bioinformatics start-up Strand Genomics has licensed its Sphatika software on an exclusive basis to Syrrx, US.

The software enables image classification. The San-Diego based Syrrx is a leader in high throughput X-ray crystallography.

According to Dr Vijay Chandru, Strand Chairman and co-founder, Sphatika enables automated classification during the crystal growth process.

The software was conceived and built in three months and can process and classify images in three seconds, said Dr Ramesh Hariharan, Strand co-founder and chief architect of the product. Strand is a spin-off of the Indian Institute of Science here and was incorporated in November 2000.
