Aurobindo launches Cefpirome

HYDERABAD, Feb. 8

AUROBINDO Pharma Ltd, the Rs 1,000-crore pharma major and one of the largest global players in cephalosporins, has announced the launch of its latest drug, Cefpirome, a fourth generation broad spectrum injectable cephalosporin.

The company, in a press release, has claimed that the drug has been launched for the first time in the country. It says Cefpirome offers advantages in the spectrum of anti-bacterial treatment, especially in life-threatening infections.

Further, it has announced that it is all set to launch its own brand of Cefpirome under the brand IV-CEF, which will be available in three parenteral dosage forms of 500mg, 1 gm and 2 gm and would be packed as vials.
