HCL Insys, Sun form alliance

NEW DELHI, Feb. 12

HCL Infosystems Ltd (HCL Insys) and Sun Microsystems India have announced a partnership under which HCL Insys will provide end-to-end business solutions based on Sun's products and technologies.

``HCL Insys would provide complete solutions to customers with sizeable components from Sun,'' said Mr Bhaskar Pramanik, Managing Director of Sun Microsystems India here.

While Sun would provide technology and products under this alliance, which is part of Sun's global iForce initiative, HCL Insys would build applications and solutions around them for the clients.

Mr Pramanik said he would like the alliance with HCL Insys to contribute as much as 25 per cent of Sun's revenues in India over the next five years. ``We would also like HCL Insys to derive as much revenues from us through this partnership,'' he said.

According to Mr Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO of HCL Insys, the partnership would target industry verticals such as finance and banking, government and manufacturing and also the emerging areas of broadband and media.

``This alliance ties in well with our strategy of constantly providing our customers with solutions based on world proven technologies and continually enhancing our product portfolio through partnerships,'' Mr Chowdhry said.

The partnership will follow an integrator-led model while focussing on accelerating existing solutions such as mobile and wireless services, portal and secure payments, customer relationship management, supply chain management and high performance computing.
