GM, Honda Feb sales up
NEW DELHI/MUMBAI, March 1
GENERAL Motors India Ltd on Friday said it sold 800 cars in February that marked a 14 per cent rise in sales over 701 cars sold in the same month of last year.
In a statement, GM said that the rise in sales was due to the introduction of new variants and the "price rationalisation" adopted along with it.
In January, GM India, a fully-owned subsidiary of US General Motors Corp, sold 648 cars. GM makes the Opel Astra, the Corsa and the Swing cars from Halol factory.
Honda Siel Cars India Ltd on Friday said its car sales jumped to 906 units in February, sharply higher than the 653 units sold in the same month a year ago.
Honda Siel, which makes the City and Accord sedans, has sold 9,339 scars during April-February of this financial year, which marks a 6.8 per cent year-on-year increase, the company said in a statement.
Japan's Honda Motor Co holds 99 per cent equity stake in the joint venture with India's Siel Ltd.
Hero Honda Motors Ltd on Friday said it sold 1,26,617 motorcycles in February, which is 44.51 per cent higher than 87,616 motorcycles in the same month a year ago.
Sales in the April-February period were 12,89,838 motorcycles, which is 38.27 per cent higher than 9,32,781 motorcycles sold in the same 11 months of the last financial year, the world's largest motorcycle company in terms of unit sales said in a statement.
February sales are 7.6 per cent lower than January.
Bajaj Auto Ltd today reported a 28.9 per cent rise in its total two and three-wheeler sales for February to 1,14,274 units from the previous corresponding 88,685 units.
This includes a 29.3 per cent increase in two-wheeler sales for the period, from 78,324 units to 101,273 units and a 25.5 per cent rise in 3-wheeler volumes to 13,001 units (10,361 units), an official statement said.
