Rubber prices steady

KOTTAYAM: Rubber prices on Friday remained steady to firm. Buyers from the general rubber goods sector temporarily withdrew after making quantum purchases on Thursday. Tyre companies do not exhibit active interest in the market quoting a maximum rate of Rs 32.75 for RSS 4.

Rubco has launched its cycle tyres and tubes, produced at the Kuthuparambu unit, for sale in the domestic market. The co-operative outfit had exported cycle tyres and tubes worth Rs 1 crore in March 2002 to Nigeria and has entered into contract with a trading firm in Egypt for exporting these worth Rs 6 crore per annum.

Meanwhile, sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 33.25 from Rs 33 and ungraded rubber to Rs 30.25 in place of Rs 30 per kg on Thursday. RSS 5 and block rubber ISNR 20 remained steady at Rs 31 per kg as also latex concentrate at Rs 28 per kg.
