Sparse arrivals firm up rubber

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, May 2

RUBBER prices firmed further on Thursday as arrivals continued to be sparse. Sellers were absent. Small growers and small traders who keep fairly good stock with them do not sell sheet rubber.

Sheet rubber RSS-4 moved up to reach Rs 34.25. North Indian purchases were instrumental for the sudden upswings noticed in ungraded rubber. Approved suppliers of tyre companies started purchasing on a limited scale. Trading activities were comparatively better following renewed interests shown by the buyers.

Sheet rubber RSS-4 improved to Rs 34.25 from Rs 33.50 on Tuesday. There was no trading on May 1.

RSS-5 firmed up to Rs 31.75 from Rs 31 on the previous day while ungraded rubber reached Rs 30.25 from Rs 29.50 on Tuesday. The prices of ISNR-20 and latex 60 per cent remained flat at Rs 30 and Rs 29 respectively.
