The Hindu Business Line : Power generation, distribution units allowed in SEZs

Confirming the move, a senior Government official said that the Exim Policy for 2002-07 has now been amended to specify that units for generation/distribution of power may also be set up in the SEZs.

Currently, the Exim Policy provides that SEZ units may be set up for manufacture of goods and rendering of services, production, processing, assembling, trading, repair, remaking, reconditioning, re-engineering including making of gold/silver/platinum and articles connected with such metals.

Further, the Directorate-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has also allowed jigs, fixtures, dyes and moulds to be imported for export purposes.
