Dull trend in rubber market

Our Correspondent

KOTTAYAM, June 3

THE rubber market appeared to be generally dull on Monday in the absence of both buyers and sellers.

Arrivals continued to be sparse as tapping has not resumed due to rains in plantation areas in most parts of the State. However, there would not be any sudden reverses that might upset the present trends, the traders said. Covering purchases came to a halt.

Tyre companies seemed to be unwilling to purchase the rubber at the market prices. The equivalent of RSS-4 in the international market touched Rs 36.36 a kg on Saturday.

In the domestic market, too, prices have firmed up.

Sheet rubber RSS-4 remained flat at Rs 38 a kg on Monday as also RSS-5 at Rs 35, ungraded rubber at Rs 33 and block rubber ISNR-20 at Rs 33 as on Saturday.

Latex 60 per cent remained unchanged at Rs 33.
