AP: Ozone depleting substances registration made mandatory

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD, June 6

INDUSTRIAL units involved in the production, consumption and handling of ozone depleting substances (ODS) have to register before July 19, according to a Government release.

The registration of units under ODS regulation rules with the designated authority is mandatory and those not complying have to stop using these substances.

The relevant authority in the State is the Small Scale Service Institute (SISI), Balanagar. The units producing aerosol, foam, fire-extinguisher, refrigeration, air conditioning, gas-charging units, metered dose inhalers, compressors etc fall in the category of ODS substance users.

In another related development to the small-scale sector, the Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO), under the Ministry of Small Scale Industry (SSI) has called for samples from units intending to participate in the national hardware show to be held in Chicago, US from August 11-13.

The Indian trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is organising the participation of Indian trade and industry. SISI is co-ordinating the prospective participants from Andhra Pradesh. Automotive accessories, building material, electrical systems, house ware, industry services, information technology, paint and decorating, plumbing etc have been identified as some of the possible areas for participating in the show.
