Maditssia to focus on woes of small industrialists

Our Correspondent

MADURAI, June 30

THE Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) will focus this year on redressing the grievances of small and tiny entrepreneurs and on the promotion of the first-ever exclusive industrial estate for women in the State to be set up at Maruthankulam near here, the association President, Mr K. Ramachandran, said.

Addressing presspersons here, he said the small-scale industrialists were facing problems with respect to central excise, sales tax, pollution control, quality control, finance, labour laws and electricity. Further many of them were found to be ignorant about the subsidies available to them. The process of globalisation has further complicated their existence.

The association felt that it was very much its duty to help solve the problems of small-scale industrialists.

Therefore, it has been intended to conduct the grievance redressal meetings on the second Monday every month.

The service is available to non-members also, he added.

During these meeting experts would be made available to suggest solutions and guide the industrialists in dealing their problems the right way.

The President of Tamil Nadu Small And Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA), Mr A. Selvaraj, said the Small and Tiny Industries Convention (STICON) would be held at Hosur during August this year.

He mentioned that a Confederation Southern States Small Industries Association (CONSSIA) has been formed that included Goa.
