MILANO, the bathroom products division of H & R Johnson (India) Ltd, is expanding its product portfolio.

The company, in association with Huppe, a German manufacturer of shower enclosures, launched the Duscha range of shower panels in India today.

Last year, H & R Johnson India Ltd, had entered into an exclusive marketing tie-up with Huppe to distribute the latter's products in the country. H & R. Johnson also plans to enter the sanitaryware segment and has formed an alliance with Vitra, a company based in Turkey.

At the launch, Mr M. Venugopalan, General Manager, Marketing, H & R Johnson (India) Ltd, said the company aimed to occupy the second position in the bathroom products market by 2006. Jaguar is the market leader in the segment with a turnover of Rs 90 crore.

Mr Ralf Schmarje, Export Manager (Southern Europe, Middle East and India), Huppe, said there was a tremendous potential for bathroom products in the Indian market which was estimated to be around Rs 500 crore. He also said that high duties, taxes levied by the Government has forced the company to offer its products at a high price. The newly-launched product would be available in two versions: Duscha 1000 and Duscha 2000 which are priced at Rs 45,000 and Rs 70,000 respectively.
