Mr U.K. Bose, Chief Executive Officer of Air Sahara, at a press conference in the Capital on Monday.

NEW DELHI, July 15

AIR Sahara plans to expand the number of flights from 53 to 155 by the end of the year to reach more destinations.

"The airline is working on a massive expansion plan. We plan to launch more flights to more sectors soon and cover the entire country. We are also getting more aircraft," the airline's Chief Executive Officer, Mr U.K. Bose, said here on Monday.

Commenting on the launch of `Crickcitement', Mr Bose said that this was the airline's attempt at increasing the number of people who will be able to afford to travel by air.

"We are targetting a huge number of passengers through this scheme. But we would not like to reveal numbers just yet. We hope to be able to grow the market through the announcement of the scheme," Mr Bose said.

Meanwhile, the airline has announced that the ongoing `bid-and-win' scheme whereby a passenger travelling on the airline can bid for a particular product and win if the bid is the highest will continue during the `Crickcitement' promotion.

On the issue of joining the Apex fare scheme launched by Indian Airlines and Jet Airways which offer passengers lower fares on several sectors if the tickets are booked 21 days in advance, Mr Bose merely said that Air Sahara was the first airline to launch such a scheme through the Net.

"There are different types of benefit which different domestic airlines are offering to various categories of customers. We are looking at the current flyers through the various schemes which have been launched," airline officials said. They said that the airline was doing well, reporting passenger loads of 50-60 per cent.
