Sonata net rises 52 pc

BANGALORE: Sonata Software Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 3.19 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2002 as compared to Rs 2.09 crore in the preceding quarter (Q4 FY2001-02), a growth of 52.41 per cent.

Revenues for the quarter also went up by 16.60 per cent to Rs 19.72 crore (Rs 16.91 crore in Q4 FY02). However, when compared the corresponding period previous year, the net profits and revenues declined by 60per cent and 23.28 per cent respectively. Sonata had reported a net profit of Rs 7.96 crore in Q1 FY2001-02 on a total income of Rs 25.77 crore.

Commenting on the outlook, Mr B. Ramaswamy, President and Managing Director, Sonata Software said, ``deepening of client relationships have resulted in a sequential growth in revenues. Further, new client additions offer scope for future growth.''

The performance is in line with the guidance given at the beginning of this fiscal and we are confident that this trend will be maintained, he added.
