Our Bureau

CORPORATION Bank's one-hundred-and-fiftieth automated teller machine (ATM) was inaugurated here.

According to a press release, the ATM was inaugurated by the Superintendent of Police of the Dakshina Kannada district, Mr Seemanth Kumar Singh, in the presence of the Corporation Bank Chairman and Managing Director, Mr K. Cherian Varghese, and other executives of the bank.

Corporation Bank is also in the process of exploring the possibility of setting up ATMs, extension counters and branches at 2,100 branches of LIC and around 1,100 branches of New India Assurance as per agreements signed with these two insurance companies last year. The bank has already initiated steps to open 100 extension counters/branches by the end of the current fiscal.

As part of its ongoing technology drive, Corporation Bank also claims to have done away with the `anxiety and worry' associated with `conventional money transfer instruments' with the introduction of schemes, which make use of the bank's ATM network.
