Codissia to organise garment fair

COIMBATORE, July 24

COIMBATORE District Small Industries Association (Codissia), which has been holding industrial fairs mostly related to enginnering/automobile/agri-business, is venturing into garment fair for the first time.

The association has joined hands with Group Instinct, a city-based event management group, to stage the first ever `business-to-business' garment fair `Intex India 2002' to be held at the Codissia Trade Fair complex between July 26 and 28.

"The fair is aimed at bringing the garment manufacturers and the retailers on one platform which in turn will facilitate in reducing the sourcing cost," the Chairman of `Intex India 2002', Mr N. Srinivasan, said.

Group Instinct has been chosen to rope in new garment manufacturers to the Intex India, throwing an opportunity to the retailers to look for new products and prices, Mr S .Chandrasekar of Group Instinct said.

The group has built a profile of about 5,000 or so retailers anticipated to make it to the three-day fair here.

Besides, the organisers are targeting garment distributors. Group Instinct has chosen to pitch the Coimbatore garment fair considering the density of the garment retailing in Coimbatore which, according to Mr Chandrasekar , occupies seventh position after Indore in terms of number of garment retailers.
