Assocham team to visit Mauritius

Our Bureau

NEW DELHI, July 24

A 13-MEMBER business delegation, sponsored by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), is to visit Mauritius between July 26 and 31.

The delegation, led by Assocham Alternate President, Mr R.K. Somany, will study the functioning of the Mauritius Free Port Authority, besides looking at investment opportunities for establishing manufacturing base in industries such as food processing and hardboard using bagasse.

"Some of our members are also looking at the possibility of storing goods in Mauritius, so that these can be moved faster to African and European countries. Mauritius also gives us a strong security of investment. They have a stable policy regime," he told newspersons here.

The visit of Assocham's first-ever delegation to Mauritius comes at a time when investments from India into Mauritius have been tapering off.
