ACMEE '02 a big draw among businessmen

CHENNAI, July 28

IF increased marketing is the key to tackling the industrial slow down, then the ACMEE 2002 the four-day industrial exhibition organised by the AIEMA (Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association) Technology Centre has accomplished it in full measure, according to the organisers.

On the third day of the event, the Chairman ACMEE 2002, Mr K.S. Shetty, told Business Line that the exhibition has attracted over 18,000 - 20,000 business visitors each day. The organisers had for the first time this year decided to introduce an entry fee to the business visitors also to ensure only the entrepreneurs and those with interests in the industries showcased turned up. Even the student visitors had to be sponsored and in the final year of their course, he said.

The products on show include those relating to automobile and allied industries, information technology tools applied in industry, machinery, and electrical and electronic components. Over 14 international participants have also put up stalls, and they have endorsed the event as among the best, Mr Shetty said.

A separate exhibition on plastic industry, Plastex 2002, was also being conducted simultaneously, he said.
