Development fund for paper industry likely

The Minister for Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Mr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, with the Minister of State, Dr Vallabh Bhai Kathiria, at a meeting with the representatives of the paper and newspaper industry in the Capital on Tuesday.


THE Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises would recommend setting up of a fund to the Government for the development of the paper industry.

This was stated by the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, at an interactive session with the paper and newsprint industry here today.

Stating that an inter-ministerial roundtable to discuss various issues concerning the industry will be organised, the Minister urged the industry to become world-class by investing suitably in upscaling the capacities and upgrading the process technology to align with the emerging techniques of cleaner and more eco-friendly processes and practices specially in the context of stringent environmental regulation.
