Kerala Govt to sign pact with Belgium for tourism

Our Bureau

KERALA will tie up with Belgium to set up joint ventures in the tourism sector.

A decision to this effect was taken after talks held between the visiting Trade Commissioner in the Belgian Embassy, Mr Jayant Nadigar, and the State Minister for Tourism, Prof K.V. Thomas.

Belgium is interested in institutionalising a new physiotherapy system that draws heavily from the beneficial effects of ayurvedic massages.

In return, Belgium, a world leader in craftworks using glass and jewellery, can provide necessary training to craftsmen in Kerala.

Belgium will also be able to provide the technical expertise needed to manufacture modern country crafts that can be used for fishing purposes as well as for navigating the expanse of backwaters. Official delegations from both sides will travel to the other destination prior to the formalisation of the agreement for effecting the transfer of the required technical knowhow.
