BANGALORE: The Minister for Higher Education, Mr G. Parameshwara, said a committee has been set up to review the decision to cut the 15 per cent grant to higher education.

The committee headed by the Chief Secretary will study the feasibility of the proposition. The Minister also posed the question of levying an education cess on the corporate sector in a bid to boost receipts for financing higher education.

At a state-level consultative meeting on establishing a task force for total quality management in higher education, he said, that after all it was the corporate sector, which was the end user of higher education. Seventy per cent of the engineering gradates are absorbed by the corporate sector, he said.
