New Products & Services TAFE's new product targets Telangana Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, Aug. 23 TRACTORS and Farm Equipment Ltd (TAFE), the flagship company of the Chennai-based Amalgamations group, has launched its new MF 241 DI CM tractor designed exclusively for Andhra Pradesh. According to Mr Cyril Fernando, Head of Sales, TAFE has been doing fairly well in the State and this year it is hopeful of doubling its sales from 1,500 tractors to 3,000 tractors. The company ranks second, next to Mahindra, in tractor sales in Andhra Pradesh. The 40-HP tractors are fuel-efficient and carry a three-year warranty. They are relatively maintenance-free. In order to boost its sales, the company has tied up with a number of financial institutions which would offer loans to farmers to buy the tractor. Priced at Rs 3.2 lakh, the tractor is mainly targeted at the Telangana region where farming activity is in dry lands. There are nine models of tractors with 25 variants to suit the requirements of different regions of the country. Mr Cyril said last year the company's market share was 14 per cent and this year it had registered a four per cent rise over that in the first quarter itself. This was despite the current depressed market conditions. The 241 CM model facilitated fast and easy gear shifts for forward and reverse movement. It also had specially designed pedals for operator's convenience and fatigue-free operation. TAFE has a network of 24 dealers and 44 customer contact points in the State. After delivery of the tractor to farmer, the company representatives would visit the farmer's place and train him in efficient use, he said.
